Overview
Unfold previews files on your Mac. We do not upload or collect their contents, or keep a history of what you preview.
flew llc makes Unfold. This policy covers the app. Our flew privacy policy also explains how we handle website visits, accounts, and purchases.
Licensing and support
To manage trials and activated Macs, we store device identifiers, your Mac's name, and your trial or license status.
These include an app-generated identifier and an identifier based on your Mac. We use them to provide your license and prevent abuse. When Unfold connects to our services for trials, licensing, or updates, our servers also receive connection details such as your IP address.
If you contact us for support, we receive your email address and any information you choose to share. The Mac App Store version differs as described below.
Payments
Stripe processes payments for purchases from flew. In some regions, Polar sells the app to you and handles payment and applicable taxes.
We and the payment provider use your email, billing location, and any business name or tax ID you provide to process your purchase and issue your license. Additional billing details are requested when needed for payment or tax calculation.
We do not receive or store full card numbers or security codes. See the privacy policies of Stripe and Polar for their data practices.
Sharing and retention
We use service providers to host our services, process payments, send account and purchase emails, provide support, and protect against abuse.
We may also share information when required by law. We do not sell personal information. Our flew privacy policy lists our providers and explains how they help us run these services.
Device identifiers and license information are kept as long as needed to provide your license and prevent abuse. We keep support messages, purchase records, and security records as needed to provide support, resolve disputes, protect our services, and meet accounting or legal obligations.
How this differs on the Mac App Store
If you get Unfold from the Mac App Store, Apple handles your purchase, licensing, and updates.
That version does not send device identifiers to our licensing service or use our trial, checkout, or update services. Apple handles App Store information under its privacy policy. Your file contents and preview history are still not collected by us.

Your rights depend on where you live. See our flew privacy policy for details, including records we may need to retain.
If our data practices change, we will update this policy and its effective date. For significant changes, we will provide notice through our website, the app, or email, as appropriate.
